Yoga could boost heart health!
The history of yoga stretches back as far as ancient India, when people practiced it to increase their tranquility and spiritual insight. Today, many Americans enjoy it to help them relax and increase their flexibility — and may even improve their heart health.
In December of 2013 I received
an email that stunned me. One of my best friends was in the hospital suffering
from left ventricular dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition causing the heart to
weaken and stretch, hindering its ability to pump blood effectively.
Yoga may be a powerful tool in stroke rehabilitation, according to new research.
The study, presented as two separate analyses at theannual meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine, shows that spending eight weeks in an adapted yoga program helped stroke survivors to have greater balance, be more flexible, be stronger and have more endurance and strength.
