Structural Anatomy of Yoga

With Hollace Stephenson, E-RYT 500, Instructor Yoga Club Teacher Training

Hours: Friday 6-10pm, Saturday & Sunday 9am - 7 pm

Eligible for 26.75 hours (24 contact hours; 2.75 non-contact hours) towards the 200 or 500 Hour TT, Therapeutic Yoga Certification, or CEC's

Anatomy of Yoga

with Hollace Stephenson, 500 E-RYT and Certified Level I Para Yoga Teacher

  Instructor with Yoga Club Teacher Training 

During this Anatomy of Yoga immersion Hollace will explore physical and energetic systems as well as alignment in asana. Sections will include basic and intermediate anatomical information regarding the skeletal, muscular, nervous and endocrine systems as well as what connects them. She will also cover the energy systems including chakras, prana vayus and koshas. You will walk away with experience of how the physical body works to align properly, deepen asanas safely to avoid injury and how to connect and balance the subtle layers of energy within.

This Immersion will help you gain a working knowledge of the major bones, joints, and muscles of the body and how they work together to perform movement and breath. You will learn to identify normal postural alignment, as well as common misalignments and imbalances that occur.  You will learn how to cue your students to achieve a more effective and safe practice. This immersion will  provide you with the tools to be better able to cater your classes to meet the individual needs of your students.

About Hollace

In addition to having a real love of yoga, Hollace Stephenson, E-RYT 500 also has a love of real food, modern science and sharing her skill and knowledge with her students. In addition to being an inspiring yoga instructor, she is a part time biology instructor, whole foods chef, creator of EATwell LIVEwell and co-owner of Yoga Shala Charlotte.

After completing an undergraduate degree in the biological sciences in 1993 Hollace taught science full time and became a part-time Yoga instructor. Realizing the connections between modern scientific research and ancient yoga philosophies she began teaching yoga full-time and deeply pursued the yogic sciences with master yoga teachers. She completed her initial Yoga training through The Kripalu Center with Yoganand Michael Carroll. She is a level 1 Certified Para Yoga Instructor and continues to study, practice and teach Para Yoga extensively with Yogarupa Rod Stryker. Hollace has also trained with Stephanie Keach in Prenatal yoga as well as Baron Baptiste in power yoga.

Her philosophy of 5 points of yoga; proper exercise, proper breathing, proper relaxation, proper diet and meditation create a balanced life of joy, health and fulfillment. Students leave Hollace's yoga classes feeling steady, balanced and uplifted. Her retreats, workshops and trainings are inspiring, educational and life changing.

Required Reading: The Key Poses of Hatha Yoga by Ray Long; Sample View of Book; Yoga Anatomy by Leslie Kaminoff (Required for 200 Hour Students, Recommended for 500 Hour).  

Required Materials: Yoga mat, 10’ yoga strap, 4” yoga block
